The Erasmus+ Program for Education, Training, Youth, and Sport was launched in January 2014, and has replaced the Erasmus Program set up by the European Commission in 1987 to promote the mobility of students and lecturers in Europe, and continues to be a great success.
We hold various Erasmus+ co-operations all over Europe. Once you have decided in which semester you plan to go abroad and which university you would like to attend, please fill in the ERASMUS+ application form completely and submit it together with the required documents (transcript of records, short CV, letter of motivation and language certificates if necessary) to the SSC Chemistry/Molecular Science (Chemikum, ground floor, room no. 00.146-1, Nikolaus-Fiebiger-Str. 10, 91058 Erlangen) or send it via e-mail to ssc-chemie@fau.de.
The application deadline is at January 7th, 2026 for the following academic year (winter term 2026/27 or summer term 2027).
Information sessions on the application process are held each year in November (exact date will be announced via e-mail). Please refer to the pdf 2024-11-19_ERASMUSinfo-Study_abroad (last year presentation) for more information.
Nomination of exchange students to go abroad is done in accordance with a “priority list,” as well as booking requests received up to a certain date, and is bound by certain criteria of eligibility:
- students in Chemistry or Molecular Science / students at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy / students from related subjects (Please note here: Students from other degree programs can only be considered if the desired places are not already occupied by students from our degree programs and if the applicants can and want to fulfill the requirements of our partner universities, e.g. usually at least 50% chemistry courses must be taken abroad)
- grades so far (for Master’s students, we review the final grade of your Bachelor’s degree, which must be at least 2,5 to participate) in relation to the required study time
We reserve the right to change the order of nomination to enable as many students as possible to gain international experience, and to support disadvantaged and underrepresented students.

However, the department will then try to find an alternative ERASMUS+ place for you if possible!
