On Thursday, 30 July 2026, the Department Chemistry and Pharmacy had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Shangfeng Yang from the University of Science and Technology of China for a guest lecture entitled Endohedral and Exohedral Functionalizations of Fullerenes. In his presentation, Dr. Yang provided fascinating insights into recent advances in the synthesis and functionalization of fullerene-based materials, highlighting both endohedral and exohedral modification strategies and their implications for molecular design and functional materials.
The seminar stimulated lively scientific discussions and offered valuable perspectives on the chemistry and applications of functionalized fullerenes, particularly in the context of molecular photochemistry and advanced energy materials.
On the following day, our group members Anna-Sophie Wollny, Alejandro Cortes-Villena, Swathi Krishna, Yifan Bo, Lukas Santiago-Diaz, and Simon Zank presented their current research projects. Their presentations sparked engaging discussions with Dr. Yang, providing an excellent opportunity for scientific exchange, constructive feedback, and the exploration of future research directions.
