Kekulé Scholarship from the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie for Benita

PhD candidate Benita Stein von Kamienski has been awarded a prestigious Kekulé Scholarship by the Fonds der Chemischen Industrie (FCI). The scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievements as well as the scientific excellence and innovative potential of her proposed doctoral research project.

In her doctoral research in the Mandel Group, Benita develops magnetic supraparticles that can permanently record exposure to specific gases. These materials are designed to store information about gas exposure in their magnetic properties, allowing non-invasive readout by Magnetic Particle Spectroscopy. The long-term vision is to create “perceptual materials” that can provide information about their environmental history, opening new possibilities for material diagnostics, safety monitoring, and smart functional materials.

The Mandel Group congratulates Benita on this achievement and wishes her every success with her doctoral research.
