New study on “Magnetite nanodiscs as vortex-enhanced MRI contrast agents”

We are excited to share our latest publication in Nanoscale Advances: “Magnetite nanodiscs as vortex-enhanced MRI contrast agents: a novel approach in medical imaging”, where we explore the potential of magnetite nanodiscs as next-generation MRI contrast agents for biomedical imaging.

In this study, we demonstrate that vortex-state magnetic nanodiscs exhibit unique field-dependent magnetic resonance properties, enabling their use as both low-field T₁ and high-field T₂ MRI contrast agents. The work highlights how the distinct geometry and magnetic behavior of these nanomaterials can enhance imaging performance across emerging ultralow-field MRI systems as well as advanced high-resolution scanners. Beyond their imaging capabilities, the nanodiscs also show promising biocompatibility and multifunctional potential for future theranostic applications.

We thank all collaborators and partners involved in this interdisciplinary effort.
