Our PhD students Giovanni Mariano Beneventi and Lukas Mai were very excited to attend the Gordon Research Conference on Electron Donor-Acceptor Interactions (GRC EDAI) in Newport, Rhode Island, USA from July 27 to August 02, 2024!

For over 50 years, the world-wide known GRC EDAI has been bringing together scientists from around the globe to discuss cutting-edge research on electron and energy interactions from fundamental understanding to a broad range of applications.

A multitude of world-leading expert scientists presented their research; Dirk, being a leading expert in the field of photochemistry himself, gave an exciting talk about “Intramolecular Up- and Down-Conversion Systems”.

The conference included several highly engaging poster sessions as well as informal networking events, where young scientists were given the opportunity to present and discuss their work, exchange ideas, connect and network with each other. Giovanni presented his research on “Lateral pi-Extended Molecular Nanographenes: Dual Emission, Ping-Pong Energy Transfer and Controlled Self-Assembly“, while Lukas presented his research on “Mechanistic Insights of Tunable Iridium(III) Complexes as Sensitizers for Organic Photocatalysis via Triplet-triplet Energy Transfer“, for which they got useful insights during their cliffwalk in Newport from Alberto Privitera (NU), Indranil Ghosh (UChicago) and Abhisek Mohapatra (CU Boulder).
