International Workshop at the Technology Training Center in Binzen: Scale-up and process optimization in oral solid dose manufacturing

From 28th to 30th of November Pia Hiltl and Christina Rödel participated in an international workshop at the Technology Training Center (TTC) of Glatt® in Binzen. The topic was highly interesting: “Scale-up and process optimization in oral solid dose manufacturing”.

Next to lectures of speakers from different companies (for instance BASF, Glatt®, Hoffmann-La Roche) there was also a factory tour where they had the chance to look at the equipment and where they got demonstrations of e.g. High Shear Granulation or Wurster Coating.

Here are some details of the lecture program:

– Scale-up of tablet coating processes incl. thermodynamic considerations

– QbD case study: How to identify the Critical Process Parameters (CPPs) for the commercial drug product manufacturing

– Dry Powder layering – a real high speed process

In the evening, there was the opportunity to network with other participants from all over the world and speakers during a guided tour of wine cellars and during workshop dinner.
