Konstantin Bikbaev studied Biotechnology at the Moscow State University of Food Production and then did his Master’s in the field of Applied Mathematics and Physics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. His master’s thesis was devoted to the synthesis and characterization of single-molecule magnets. During his undergraduate studies, he attended a summer school at Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum in Heidelberg where he worked on the synthesis of contrast agents for molecular imaging techniques. He also learned crystallography during his stay in Nové Hrady, Czech Republic. Konstantin started his doctoral position in January 2021 in Düsseldorf and then relocated to Erlangen in April 2022. He studies the catalytic cycle of [FeFe] hydrogenase and focuses on protein biochemistry and crystallography.
