Research Areas & Goals

The Graduate School Molecular Science offers an interdisciplinary educational program for graduate students within three research areas named „Molecular Materials“, „Design and Engineering of Molecular Catalysts“ and „Molecular Modeling and Simulation“.

These three areas are reflected in a complementary fashion by three research centers, namely the Interdisciplinary Center for Molecular Materials (ICMM), the Erlangen Catalysis Resource Center (ECRC) and the Computer Chemistry Center (CCC).

Important topics within the Graduate School Molecular Science research program address advanced technologies such as Molecular Electronics, Supramolecular Chemistry, Nanoscience, Surface Phenomena, and Catalysis. Thus, graduate students will be prepared excellently to face the scientific and social challenges of the future. The demand for highly trained scientists can be at least partially satisfied.
