Philipp Groppe graduated from the University of Würzburg with a Master of Science degree in the interdisciplinary course Functional Materials in 2019. During his master studies he focused on novel nanomaterials and -analytics to explore new applications in energy technology and sustainability. In his master thesis he concentrated on the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticle building blocks for unique optical ID supraparticles. During his time in university he gained various experience in scientific work due to internships at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC and the BMW Group Research and Innovation Centre FIZ.

Philipp joined the Supraparticle Group as a PhD candidate in July 2020. His research focusses on structural behavior of nanoparticle building blocks during spray drying and templating processes to create supraparticles with innovative functionalities and applications.
