Research topic of Ph. D. Project:

Surface functionalization with enhanced properties

“I’m working on the functionalization of flat surfaces and nanoparticles with self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of phosphonic acid molecules. The used molecules form highly ordered monolayers on metal oxide surfaces in a self-assembly and self-terminating process. The aim of my project is to use different chemical compositions of those SAMs to directly tune the interface properties in devices or enable further reactions on the surface.”
