Exmatriculation / Ending Your Enrollment

Students and doctoral candidates can deregister from the university on their own if they would like to transfer to another university, end or interrupt their (doctoral) studies, or if they successfully complete their (doctoral) studies.

You may be automatically deregistered from the university if you fail to re-enroll in time, if you fail all attempts at an examination, or if you have successfully completed your studies.

You may submit your exmatriculation to student administration at any point in time. In contrast to enrollment, exmatriculation is not bound by deadlines.

Before leaving Germany and returning to their respective home countries, international students and doctoral candidates are required to appear personally in the student administration office to deregister from the FAU.
