Studying with Children

The Family Service of the FAU and the University Clinic of Erlangen cooperate and connect the many diverse offers for mothers, fathers, children, and their relatives in all aspects of academia, career, or studies. The Family Service gives students, doctoral candidates, and university (clinic) employees comprehensive counseling on the topic of studying and working at the university while raising children.

StudOn

Thanks to the financial support of university fees, the FAU has been able to create the possibility to support instruction and examinations via virtual tools; instruction, for example, has been expanded by means of various online offers, additional materials, and elements that allow for communication and collaboration. An important goal of FAU-StudiumOnline (StudOn) is to facilitate communication between students and educators, thereby improving cooperation and growth. On the learning platform StudOn, students might find lecture notes, practical courses, tutorial exercises, and current information from the instructor regarding exam grades and important dates to remember.

Student Services Center (SSC)

There are two Student Services Centers (SSC) at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy. They are the first points of contact for students who have questions about their studies in the programs Chemistry and Molecular Science, as well as in Food Chemistry and Pharmacy.

Start of Lectures

The winter semester (WS) lasts from October 1 until March 31 of the following year. Lectures typically begin in the middle of October and end in the middle of February the following year. The lecture period of the winter semester is interrupted by the Christmas holidays.

The summer semester (SS) lasts from April 1 until September 30; lectures typically begin in the middle of April and end in the middle of July.

Social Counseling at the Studentenwerk Erlangen-Nuremberg

The Social Counseling Service of the Studentenwerk helps students with personal issues that may hinder or complicate their ability to study at the FAU. Examples include students who find themselves in serious financial distress, students who have children, and students with disabilities and chronic illnesse.

Sexual Harassment

The FAU does not tolerate sexual harassment. The Guidelines for Dealing with Sexual Harassment serve to protect, inform, and sensitize all members of the university community.
