Legal Advice

The Studentenwerk Erlangen-Nuremberg provides free legal advice for students and enrolled doctoral candidates in matters of, for example, labor law, commercial matters, tenancy rights, as well as any other legal difficulties related to student life.

The legal counseling service makes an effort to be “student friendly,” and prior registration is not required, although one should expect relatively long wait times. These conversations are, of course, kept confidential, and repeated sessions are also possible.

Due to internal limitations, the general legal counseling services is not able to help students with questions about financing their education. Please see the responsible office, the Amt für Ausbildungsförderung, for further information and appropriate counseling.

Exclusively in-person counseling (not written or by telephone) is offered at the following appointments:

Erlangen

Monday, 13:00 – 14:30
Hofmannstr. 1, Room 201

Thursday, 18:00 – 19:30
Juridicum (Faculty of Law), Schillerstr. 1, Room U1.127

Nuremberg

Psychological Counseling

The Studentenwerk Erlangen-Nuremberg has a psychological-psychotherapeutic counseling center, which provides professional help for students suffering from any number of problems, including issues related to your (doctoral) studies, exams, or work, as well as issues related to your personal life, such as conflicts with parents or partners, depression, anxiety, and more.

We charge a minimal fee to contribute to our expenses (10€ for individual sessions; 15€ for couple and family sessions). Students in difficult financial situations may, of course, be exempt from paying this fee.

You may make an appointment with us, or come to our counselors during our open office hours to inform yourself of hour services – no need to make a commitment, register beforehand, or give us any of your personal data, even your name.
