Nano goes Robotics! Project EQUIP started
The EQUIP research facility at the Technical University of Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS), Institute for Medical Technology Schweinfurt (IMES) is an automated laboratory for processes in the field of life science engineering. We are delighted to be working with THWS and Fraunhofer ISC in Würzburg as part of the IDEAL cooperation program to automatically produce lipid-based nanoparticles as a transport system for active substances in the human body, using the skin and blood-brain barrier as examples. The data obtained from particle production, analysis, and specificity testing will be analyzed using active learning methods to identify correlations and enable predictions for particle optimization. The research project thus represents a concept for a preclinical development platform for the targeted optimization of lipid-based nanoparticles. The use of tissue models reduces the need for animal studies.
The three-stage qualification concept provides the involvement of students and doctoral candidates in the training of young scientists at the interface between engineering and life sciences. In addition, a continuing education program for specialists in the field of automation technology related to life sciences is being developed in consultation with industry representatives.
We are looking forward to an exciting collaboration!
