STAEDTLER Foundation doctoral award for Dr. Jakob Reichstein
The STAEDTLER FOUNDATION promotes cutting-edge research and honors doctoral students at FAU at its 2025 annual meeting
For the 27th consecutive year, the STAEDTLER Foundation honored doctoral students from Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) at its 2025 annual meeting. This year’s doctoral awards were presented to a total of eleven winners at a ceremony held at the company’s headquarters. Dr. Jakob Reichstein from the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy is also among the award winners with his doctoral thesis on “Supraparticle Designs for Microscale Information Carriers.”
In his opening speech, the chairman of the STAEDTLER Foundation, Mr. Wilhelm R. Wessels, welcomed the award-winning doctoral students and numerous guests from the worlds of science, business, and politics. Prof. Dr. Kathrin Möslein, Vice President Outreach at FAU, and Prof. Dr. Nils Oberbeck, President of the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg, gave a welcoming speech in honor of the doctoral students. In concise four-minute presentations, the young researchers provided insights into their dissertations and impressed with their impressive depth of knowledge and clarity. They then received their award certificates.
About the STAEDTLER Foundation
Since 1997, all shares in the STAEDTLER Group have been held by the STAEDTLER Foundation. This public foundation under civil law is primarily concerned with promoting innovative ideas and preserving knowledge.
The purpose of the foundation is to promote scientific research at universities, in particular at Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg. As far as financial resources allow, cultural causes such as art, monument preservation, and music, especially in northern Bavaria, can also be supported. With a total of approximately €22 million to date from the proceeds of the STAEDTLER company, the STAEDTLER Foundation exclusively supports charitable projects in the scientific and cultural fields in the Nuremberg metropolitan region.
STAEDTLER is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of writing, painting, drawing, and modeling products. As an international company with a high export quota, STAEDTLER sells its products worldwide in over 150 countries. However, its roots can be found in Nuremberg, the headquarters of the STAEDTLER Group.
