Edinburgh Instruments Lectureship in Photophysics and Photochemistry
We are delighted to announce that Professor Dirk M. Guldi has been selected as the 2025 Edinburgh Instruments Lecturer in Photophysics and Photochemistry at Duke University. Established to honor scientists who have made transformative contributions to the fields of light–matter interaction, energy conversion, and molecular photochemistry, this prestigious lectureship has previously recognized luminaries such as Harry B. Gray, Thomas J. Meyer, and Michael Wasielewski.
Professor Guldi is internationally acclaimed for his pioneering work on molecular and nanoscale systems for solar energy conversion. His research combines innovative design and mechanistic insight to control photon and charge dynamics through processes such as singlet fission and triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion—key strategies to surpass solar efficiency limits. With more than 800 publications, 55,000 citations, and leadership roles across international scientific communities, this award celebrates his enduring impact on photochemical science and energy research.
