ChemCup Winners 2025

In an astonishing collaborative effort, the SSC Pasta la Vista (mixed team from PC I and TC) has emerged as the best football team of the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy, proudly lifting the prestigious ChemCup Trophy. This glorious victory marks the return of the title to the Guldi group, their first triumph since 2013, and the inaugural victory for the theoretical chemistry department. The tournament featured teams from organic and inorganic chemistry as well as two teams from other departments which volunteered to help out and increase the level of competition. After an exhausting six months of training, often contending with challenging weather and difficult pitch conditions, the team entered the tournament with an initial nervousness and disorganization.

The opening matches were tough, resulting in losses of 1:3 and 0:2. However, the quality and mentality of the players ultimately came through as minor tactical adjustments were made, aided by the continuous support of our enthusiastic crab cheerleaders. The turning point came in a convincing 3:1 victory in the third match, followed by a monumental defensive performance in the fourth game, where the team held their opponents to a hard-fought 0:0 draw. A triumphant 2:1 win in the fifth match set the stage for the title-deciding clash against our familiar rivals from organic chemistry, with whom we had engaged in numerous training matches. The team never lost hope even when we went down 0:1, resulting in a last-minute equalizer, pushing the game into extra time. The tension mounted as both teams remained locked at 1:1, leading to a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. With nerves of steel and an outstanding performance from our goalkeeper, we triumphed 3:1 in the shootout, crowning us as the best chemistry football team of 2025. This extraordinary achievement once again exemplifies that when the realms of theory and practice unite, anything is possible.
