Project MM-ZERO aims to develop main group metal chemistry in the zero-oxidation state. In contrast to transition metals, for which there are many examples of TM0 complexes, it is a challenge to isolate complexes of electron-rich main group metals. This holds especially for the s-block metals which just want to lose their electrons.

  • Using specially designed organic ligands, we bring main group metals in solution which makes them highly reactive.
  • Using Metal-Vapour-Synthesis we make highly reactive heterogenous catalysts with the ultimate goal to develop sustainable, highly active (de)hydrogenation catalysts for hydrogen storage applications.
