Dr. Christhy Vanessa Ruiz Madroñero

Dr. Christhy Vanessa Ruiz Madroñero (IZNF 02.166) obtained her first degree in Physical Engineering from Universidad del Cauca in Colombia, then a Master of Nanoscience, Material and Processes from Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona, Cataluña, Spain, and her PhD in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Campus Manizales. Her doctoral research was dedicated to the development and characterization of hybrid materials based on zinc hydroxide salts and phenolic compounds with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. In the CTFM lab, Christhy now focuses on the preparation of nanostructured surfaces and their exploitation in electrocatalysis.
Christhy also leads as an Honorary Professor a research project at the Catholic University of Manizales. Her project seeks to take advantage of, reuse and value coffee pulp, a waste of the coffee process, through biological recycling for the degradation of plastic packaging of food products of PET and PE in order to improve the sustainability of the life cycle of these polymers. |
